Walk in the footsteps of St. Brendan, the Navigator on the Kerry Camino
Enjoy a fantastic 3 days walking experience from Tralee to Dingle. Follow the ancient route used by Kerry people from the time of Saint Brendan, when they walked in pilgrimage to Dingle to travel on to the Camino.
The Kerry Camino is a three day walk on small country roads and waymarked way, it takes in spectacular views of the countryside, hills and the Atlantic Ocean. Starting at St James Church in Tralee, the first day takes us to Camp, second day ends at Annascaul and the third days takes us to Dingle. Maps are available and walkers collect “shell” stamps at particular locations along the way. Check it out at kerrycamino.com
We provide a qualified walk leader with a current outdoor first aid certificate to accompany you for the three days. They will look after your safety, point out items of interest, advise you about gear and food and generally ensure you get the most from this wonderful walking experience. They can also introduce you to “Cúpla focal”, a little of the Irish language spoken by the local population of this part of Ireland.
Accommodation is available at Mount Brandon Hostel year round, during the accompanied walks we offer accommodation from 27.50 euro per head including a cooked breakfast. You should book you accomodation seperately at www.mountbrandonhostel.com
There are a choice of pubs and restaurants in the locality for dinner, including good quality food in the pub next door to the hostel. You can organise a packed lunch to suit your own dietary requirements and preferences with ingredients from the local shop. Transport to the start of eachs days walk and back to Cloghane in the evenings can be by car pooling amongst the group or we can arrange for the local taxi car/van service to do this for you.
We carry an appropriate level of public liability insurance to cover our activities and all walkers are advised to review their personal accident insurance before they set out walking. To ensure your enjoyment and safety we apply minimum and maximum group numbers on all of our activities.
Ireland enjoys a temperate climate and our weather is affected on a daily basis as much by the speed and direction of the wind as by the season of the year. This means that we don’t experience extremes of temperature but the weather can be quite changeable from day to day and on occasion this may lead to some alterations to planned routes.
